Do you ever look outside, see all the deer, and wonder to yourself, “Wow, I really want a pet deer.”
No?
Exactly.
Well according to some, adopting a deer for a pet seems to be a very good idea. Frankly, I’m not sure how anyone comes to the conclusion of wanting to adopt a deer. Deer are dangerous. Plain and simple, no argument. Don’t believe me? Go search it up, it’s true.
“But deer are only dangerous during rutting season.”
I didn’t know there was a time constraint for dangerous animals. That claim also plainly states that deer are dangerous. It doesn’t matter how long they are dangerous, they still are. Rutting season takes place from September through November, and birthing season takes place May through July. You’re telling me that you want to adopt a deer that 6 out of 12 months of the year are dangerous to be around? I don’t know, it seems a little bit off to me.
Deer also hold so much disease that the average person cannot even see. Deer hold ticks, fleas, deer flies, and so much more that we cannot even imagine. Going into the woods, people will always be warned against ticks, so why bring an animal into your home that houses ticks? Let’s also focus on the fact that deer live in the forest. They mostly eat grass for their diets. Who says they want to be stuck in someone’s home 24/7? They have been living in the forests forever, really. So who are we to take them out of their home? Leave them where they are happy.
Maybe I just don’t understand the desire to adopt a deer as a pet. Personally, I don’t want to fear my pet for half of the year. Get a cat or a dog, there are even deer costumes for your dog if you so desire it. People will claim that a cat or dog can hurt you just as much as a deer. Here’s the difference: you train your cats and dogs. They can be trained. Deer can’t. No matter how much people beg for deer to be trained, they never will be. They are wild animals. So let’s keep them there. In the wild. They are probably much happier for it anyway.
Not only are deer dangerous, but they are also very annoying. Ever plant flowers in your garden? Well, the deer will eat them. Don’t spend too much money on your beautiful garden, unless you wish to look outside and see half-eaten flowers every day.
Now yes, there are pictures of deer that are really adorable. I mean, who doesn’t love Bambi? However, Bambi is a cartoon from Disney, not a real animal (no matter how much Disney wants to make Bambi a live action movie). You know what other animals are cute? Bears, tigers, lions, otters, etc., all animals that can brutally harm you. Looking at a picture cannot harm you, but the same cannot be said for adopting a dangerous animal for a pet. Let’s be honest, baby lions, bears, and tigers are adorable. I would never say otherwise. However, I also like being alive. I like- no sorry- love not being dead. Do I want a pet that could kill me? No, of course not. So, I truly don’t know why anyone would.
Deer are very dangerous wild animals. While they may look cute, they carry many diseases and can become very violent at the drop of a hat. So if you look outside and see deer, go ahead and smile at its cuteness. However, the moment you decide to adopt one as a pet, please, stop and think clearly about it first. Deer won’t think twice about hurting you – I can promise you that much.
