Nanuet Girls’ Soccer Off to an Impressive Start

The Nanuet Girls’ Soccer team is off to an impressive start. They began the season with an impressive win over Walter Panas 3-1.Abby Knobel had two goals and Jess Antonelli one. Abby Knobel, Jess Antonelli, Julia Rodriguez all had assists. They then dominated Riverside (Yonkers) 9-0. Abby Knobel scored three goals and Jess Antonelli, Samantha Dow, Rebekah Swanwick, Caroline Moran, Abby Daley, and Hope DeGenova all scored a goal. Abby Knobel had two assists and Alana Goldsmith, Julia Rodriguez, Samantha Dow, Megan Condon, Abby Daley, Alex McDowell and Hope DeGenova all had one assists. Cat Harwick and Elaina Baptista combined for the shutout in goal. They dominated Scarsdale B in the next game 12-1. Abby Knobel scored five goals and Megan Condon, Tara Slinn, Alana Goldsmith, Alex McDowell, Jess Antonelli, Abby Daley and Hope DeGenova scored goals. Alana Goldsmith and Jess Antonelli each had two assists and Megan Condon, Abby Knobel, Abby Daley, and Samantha Dow one.

Nanuet then lost two close games in a row, each by a score of 2-1. Abby Knobel scored the goal in the first game, against Clarkstown South, and Samantha Dow had an assist. Alana Goldsmith scored the goal in the second game, against Pearl River, and Jess Antonelli had an assist.

Nanuet then rebounded, defeating North Salem 2-0 in double overtime, with Knobel scoring both goals. They then were defeated by Tappan Zee 0-3. Then, in a heartbreaker, they were defeated by Albertus Magnus, one of the top rated teams in the country, by a score of 1-2. The Golden Knights led this game until the final ten minutes before succumbing to the Falcons’ pressure. Jess Antonelli scored the Knights’ goal, assisted by Tara Slinn.
Finally, Nanuet defeated Suffern 2-1at Rockland Boulders Stadium) Tara Slinn and Jess Antonelli scored goals and Alex McDowell had an assist.
