The Nanuet Senior High School Girls Bowling Team made it to the State Championship, which took place on March 8, 2024, in Syracuse, New York. There, Nanuet competed against all the other sectional winners from across New York State.
Though they did not win at States, coming in last place in the end, members of the team recognize that this was still a very big accomplishment and a wildly successful season overall.
Making it all the way to states, no matter what happens after, is something to be proud of, according to Leah Mourikis, a freshman.
“Making states is a huge accomplishment for any team,” she said. “Especially since the Girls Bowling Team is entirely freshman and we only have five people, which is the minimum to qualify.”
The opportunity to travel across the state was also exciting, Mourikis explained.
“I’m most proud of how I was able to adapt to something that was kind of new to me, and improve a lot over the season,” she added.
The team feels like they accomplished something special and should be proud of what they have done, according to Freshman Maryn Bilotta.
“I feel very accomplished and proud of my team this season,” she said. “I am most proud of Hannah Park because she has really improved and worked extremely hard this season.”
