The Chamber Fall Festival, one of Nanuet’s most beloved fall events, returned to Lake Nanuet this October. Celebrating the beauty of fall and the loving community that makes it so special, this year’s festival was even more jam-packed than the last. With more booths, unique food and gorgeous weather, it perfectly encapsulated the essence of fall and highlighted the diverse, close-knit community of Nanuet.
Upon entering the event, people were greeted with live music and the scent of pumpkin spice in the air as they traversed through the countless activities present at Lake Nanuet. Activities for children were at the core of the festival this year with the trunk or treats, stores and games available for them to play.
Mia Chindemi, a junior, noticed the wide array of festivities.
“I feel like there’s a lot more to do, especially for the little kids, and I think that that’s great,” she said.
Several activities like face painting and coloring books were provided for the little ones. Meanwhile, the adults interacted with the diverse array of shops and businesses.
Compared to last year, the excitement for this festival was felt throughout the town. From social media posts to posters in high school, the anticipation was palpable.
Mr. Andrasko, a social studies teacher, attended the event.
“I feel like there’s more community involvement this year as well as [it being] advertised well,” he said, adding that promotions for the festival were “all over Facebook,” allowing for “more of a lead up to it, and it definitely paid off.”
The Fall Festival has cemented itself as a staple in Nanuet culture. The innovative new additions like Trunk or Treating and the recurring favorites like the apple cider donuts and food trucks will forever be remembered by those who attended. However, the main attraction was not the food nor the traditions, but the community that made the festival possible.
Inaya Ortiz, a senior, confirmed this.
“I like the sense of community,” she said. “I keep [interacting] with my community.”
At the end of the day, the community is what makes this festival so memorable. Every year, rain or shine, Nanuet continues to support their local businesses and connect with others in a way that is unique to community events. This beloved event was made possible by the continuous support and the hard work from those throughout the area.
